Manufacturing Jobs Still Available
Even though the manufacturing industry was hard hit by the economic recession, there are still plenty of places throughout the nation that are hiring manufacturing workers.
Manufacturers News, Inc. recently released its list of the top cities for manufacturing jobs. The list includes the top 50 cities that had the most manufacturing jobs as of December 2010. Of those cities, five are located in California and four are located in Texas.
In fact, Houston was ranked first in the nation, with a total of 228,226 manufacturing jobs. That was followed by New York's total of 139,127 jobs; Chicago's total of 108,692 jobs; Los Angeles's total of 83,719 jobs; and St. Louis's total of 83,123 jobs.
At the other end of the spectrum was Everett, Wash., ranked 50th with only 30,117 manufacturing jobs. That was followed by Sunnyvale, Calif., with 30,704 jobs; Richmond, Va., with 31,070 jobs; Huntsville, Ala., with 31,130 jobs; and Tucson, Ariz., with 31,672 jobs.
